To sew
On my list for new adventures in 2009, I am purposing to learn to sew! Do you think I could eventually learn to make a dress like this? And another question... do you think Hope's hair might ever learn to grow into ringlets like this cutie's???

Adorable little girl in the picture...
Our daughter is a seamstress and she and I used to teach sewing when we lived in Snohomish County through the Snohomish County Clothing and Textile Advisors ~ they have free (or nearly free classes) for the community. You just need your own sewing machine and basic supplies. I was the 4-H Family Living program leader several years ago (I miss those days ~ cooking and sewing and 4-H projects and kids). sigh...
I really encourage you to learn, but be willing to start with basic projects and then you'll work up to bigger projects (like this dress) before you know it!
Now, I miss teaching side-by-side with my daughter... Oh, if only they didn't have to grow up.
Blessings!
You'll get it Becca! Its not that hard. I took Home Ec and learned basic sewing but have taught myself some more complex things...I want to learn to sew more but my sewing machine is acting a little beat up.
Thanks for the vote of confidence girls! I will look for one at a garage sale and sign up for a class! I can't wait to teach the girls. And do simple things like add ribbon trim to my boring curtain panels!
Yes, Joanie, they do have to grow up. :o( Aidan said the other night, "I wish things could just stay the same Mom, forever." I just said, "That's not God's plan Aidan. He must have a good reason."
I want to sew this coming year too. Maybe we could have a sewing weekend sometime, instead of a scrapbooking weekend.
An apron would be an easy first-project. :)
